Well, highest riposte/backstab damage is gonna be different than highest critical damage. And weapons like Estoc and Rapier have hidden critical modifiers as well. Highest damage is gonna be like, a crystal/buffed demon hammer, or Midroll is viable if you use it conservatively, but fat rolling makes you a prime target for backstabbing, If you're gonna fat roll then consider equiping a piece of the armor of thorns set to hopefully cancel out their backstab or carry a fast weapon, preferably with wide horizontal attacks. BS are BS. In DS whenever I get backstabed it is never a legit backstab. It always have to be a facestab, sidestab, or a rollstab. IMO backstabs should be removed in DkS or atleast tighten up the degree you backstab from so you need to be right behind the guy not to his side or face.
