Good to know! I read and re-read the manual and I guess that part just didn’t reach my brain. I really wish it would pair with my OTF monitor so I don’t have to buy another ~$100 piece of hardware. Otherwise, activity steps, as already mentioned, can be recorded by a 3rd party Connect IQ extension, but CIQ does not have the access to the HRM step data, and oppositely HRM-Pro does not support the CIQ technology, hence no extensions for it are available. Garmin Connect will not replace hr data from the watch with hr data from the hrm-pro for a timed activity. It could fill in the gap in the 24/7 hr data timeline, but I assume that would depend on your "preferred tracker" setting. The Garmin HRM-Pro Plus can connect to multiple devices simultaneously via Bluetooth and ANT+: you can feed heart rate data into your smartwatch and your Wattbike simultaneously. Perfect for those Coros won't know what to do with all the other stuff. If you have the strap already, you can use it, but if you're buying the strap specifically to use with a Coros, you can save a lot of money and get something without all the bells and whistles that won't do anything. I have a hard time recommending the Garmin HRM Pro or Pro Plus to those

For me it seems the "battery gauge" of the HRM Pro is bull shit. Mine never showed any pre-warning of an empty battery. The strap just stopped connecting. When I switch the battery, I regulary meassure the tension left in the battery and it is allways way below the nominal 3V.

Hence, I would not call it false advertising. False advertising would be if they claimed the HRM Dual can be used with Garmin Connect standalone, because that is true just for the HRM Pro. You can finally see it directly on the product page of every Garmin HRM: Garmin HRM-Dual - HRM Comparison

Called Garmin support and a VERY nice woman asked, “What Garmin apparatus are you connecting the HRM Dual to?” I own no Garmin equipment. “Oh, dear, the HRM Dual will connect ONLY to Garmin products. The product that connects to smartphones is the HRM Pro ($130 vs. $60). Which Garmins do you have?
From the Garmin Connect mobile app: If your Garmin device is Bluetooth-enabled, you can download the Garmin Connect Mobile app, create a Garmin Connect account, and link to your Strava account by going to Settings > Connected Apps > Strava. The Polar H10 suffered from repeated broadcast problems to the treadmill, but ANT+ to my Forerunner 935 was just fine. I purchased the HRM-Pro Plus to hopefully solve this problem, and can't help but notice that the data quality in Garmin Connect seems to be much better, less choppy, so guessing sampling is far better.
